Cost report filings for the cost reporting period ended December 31, 2019 have been further extended from July 31, 2020 until August 31, 2020. This information has been posted on the CGS website. Expect further postings from CMS and other Medicare Administrative Contractors (“MAC”).
CMS currently extended the delay for the following fiscal year end dates. The current regulation at 42 CFR §413.24 (f) (2) (ii) allows this flexibility. In addition, this is a blanket extension and providers do not need to request an extension. The due date of the 10/31/2019 and 11/30/2019 cost reports remain the same with a due date of 6/30/2020. The due date of the 12/31/2019 cost reports are extended further from 7/31/2020 to a due date of 8/31/2020. The due date of the 1/31/2020 cost reports are extended from 6/30/2020 to a due date of 8/31/2020.The due date of the 2/29/20 cost reports are extended from 7/31/2020 to a due date of 9/30/2020.
We encourage all affected providers to submit their cost reports as soon as all data is available.
The Health Group, LLC is preparing guidance for providers in preparation of the submission of cost reports that cover the COVID-19 PHE. This information is expected to be released shortly. This will encompass PPP loan forgiveness as well as expenses chargeable against Provider Relief Funds.
THE HEALTH GROUP LOOKING AT MODIFYING EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS
The Health Group, LLC has offered live programming annually for many years. As a NASBA-approved sponsor, we are now approved for CPE offerings in formats other than live programming. Many of our former program attendees have inquired about any programs that may be offered later in 2020; however, due to the COVID-19 PHE, we have suspended planning for any live programming through the end of 2020. However, we are currently planning for other program formats which would allow CPA attendees CPE credit. We will continue to keep you informed regarding any programs in planning.
