Volume 26.08

The 2026 Hospice Financial & Compliance Management Conference is scheduled for October 1st and 2nd, 2026 at Paris Las Vegas.  While individual sessions are still in development, the conference will have significant focus on the federal and state’s initiatives related to curbing fraud and abuse, as well as dealing with the increasing complex compliance and financial reporting requirements.

The Health Group, LLC is excited about revisiting Las Vegas for the 2026 Hospice Financial & Compliance Management Conference.  The networking opportunities, coupled with the ability to react to the educational needs of attendees, make live programming so much more beneficial than webinars and other forms of distance education.  We limit attendance at our programs to further enhance the benefits of the program.

Special rates have been secured with the Paris Las Vegas; however, to secure these rates, call (877) 603-4389 and inform the hotel that you are attending “The Health Group Program” or, more conveniently, secure your room online here.  Special rates have been secured for the nights of September 29 -30, 2026 and October 1-3, 2026.  Paris Las Vegas is accepting reservations now.

Early registration is available through July 15, 2026; however, if you are planning to attend, we encourage registration at your earliest opportunity to ensure your spot.  Program information, including registration, is available here.

The Health Group, LLC is a registered sponsor with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors.  State Boards of Accountancy have the final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.  Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of Sponsors through its website https://www.nasbaregistry.org/.  Attendees can qualify for up to fourteen (14) hours of continuing professional education by attending the 2026 Hospice Financial & Compliance Management Conference.

COST REPORT PLANNING

December 31, 2025, cost reporting season just ended.  This is the perfect time to schedule time with your cost report preparer to review your 2025 cost report submission in detail, identify areas of cost reporting improvement in the 2026 filing, discuss timing for the 2026 cost report submission, and initiate other related discussions.

Remember, if you use an outside firm or individual to prepare your cost report, they will never know details of your operations as well as you.  If the preparer is adequately skilled, they can appropriately address any operational issues in the cost report; however, unless they are appropriately informed, certain costs, revenues, and statistics may not be best reported.

Improving the quality of cost report submissions benefits all hospices as the government will increasingly look to hospice cost reports for hospice reimbursement decisions.
